Changed due to COVID-19. Virtual sessions in the morning and afternoon.
The preferred date is Monday, July 27th on the Opening Day of the NC STEM Alliance Summer STEM Prep Program https://www.forsythtech.edu/stem/stem-prep-summer-program/ Ideally, I'd like for the group of up to 24, mostly high school STEM students, to experience a variety of STEM labs/activities during a 3 hour block in the morning and during a 3 hour block in the afternoon. If possible, since their summer program theme is Rockets to the Rescue, it would be nice if your Alka Seltzer Rocket demo could be displayed at some point too.
Monday, July 27, 9:00 am - 12 pm (breaks whenever appropriate) 24 students
The first day of this week long program is most ideal, but if we have to pick another date, it could be any of the other days, except for Friday. Our largest science lab capacity is 24. So that will be the maximum number of students.
The majority of the 24 students will by 11th and 12th graders, though I will accept some 9th, 10th and first year college STEM students. This summer program is more about exposure to STEM opportunities and professionals, than about teaching the highest level of academic STEM Concepts and Lab Techniques. So, foundational STEM academic concepts are good, along with activities that will push them to grow more, for those students who may have taken a high level of STEM courses. Thank you for this opportunity to partner with BioNetwork!
