Downstream Processing

This course will teach the student the various unit operations used by the bioprocessing industry to harvest, separate, purify, and concentrated molecules into final product. Topics discussed include crystallization, precipitation, centrifugation, filtration, chromatography, sterilization, filter integrity testing, and freeze drying. The student will observe several activities that demonstrate these unit operations. Successful completion of this course will prepare the student to work in a downstream processing operation in a biomanufacturing setting.
